The beach its self is well kept and clean. The cliffs are pretty to look at. People go to try and find sharks teeth ...we didn't find any but if you bring a strainer I'm sure you can scrounge one up!
Great for family hikes and plenty of cut spots to take pics.
Took my little sister ...we took the red trail which was easy to find and easy to hike down to the beach area.
The beach is not huge - it's actually quite narrow and gets super crowded on a busy day, but I would definitely say it's fun. Come prepared if you want to go swimming/bring towels/etc.
Great park, nice flowers and wildlife to see. Tons of fossils on the beach, and several people found shark teeth (but I was not so lucky). It's a bit of a hike to carry a lot of stuff. They do have a big bin full of sieves and shovels for you to use while hunting, as well as charts to help ID your finds. I enjoyed talking with a park ranger who helped us ID some of our fossils, which was really nice. I appreciated them having water coolers there during a heat advisory day. BEWARE THE JELLYFISH! They were washing up by the dozens with the tide, and I got stung several times. If you want to swim, maybe bring a wetsuit?! Bring exact change ($5) for the entrance fee because there was no one there to change for me when I arrived quite early (8:30). It was not crowded on a weekday, but it's a small beach and gets smaller at high tide, so get there early or on a weekday if you hate crowds. Overall, I loved the fossils, and hope to go back again, wish I lived closer!
I did wish it had a boardwalk out into the water since the beach itself is somewhat narrow.
It was worth the ride from Anne Arundel county. The park wasn't crowded much and the finding of the small beach was a beautiful surprise. The scenery was beautiful. There were several different paths to follow that led to the beach. My 10 year old son and I had a good time picking sea shells. He enjoyed himself.
If you're going for the beach, it's not that impressive. It has a 50 feet stretch and it's only about 5/10 feet wide, and it requires a very long, almost 2 mile hike to get there. I definitely did not regret going, but you better like the people you'll be walking with
All trails are well labeled and maps are located along the trails that clearly tell you where you are.
The trails were not challenging (we didn't do all of them, but it seemed like most people come here to head to the water anyway).
We had discovered this park and though of taking a day to go explore. Overall, it's a neat place - it was pretty crowded on Saturday, which is probably normal, especially with the nice weather - but still a worthwhile trip.
